According to the theory of left-brain or right-brain dominance, each side of the brain controls different types of thinking. When you’re being analytical, attentive, objective and rational, you’re using the left side, or logical side, of your brain. But when you’re being creative, impulsive, intuitive or thoughtful, you’re using the right side of your brain.
For most people, one side of the brain tends to dominate their thinking, that is, people tend to be either more analytical (left-brain dominant) or more creative (right-brain dominant). But just because one way of thinking comes more naturally to you doesn’t mean that you can’t work the other side of your brain as well! In fact, the brain is thought to work on the “use it or lose it” principle: the more you use it, the better it gets. The fact that we are either “left-brained” or “right-brained” makes it important that we improve the less-dominant side.
So how do you know if you are right or left-brain dominant and how do you improve your non-dominant side? You can take a “Hemispheric Dominance Inventory Test” to determine which side of the brain you tend to favor, or you can engage in educational activities that work both sides of your brain at once, like Extreme Dot-to-Dot puzzles from MindWare!
These amazing dot-to-dot puzzles are intricate, challenging and wildly rewarding to finish. To complete the puzzles, you need both concentration and creative thinking—so both sides of your brain will get a workout! Not to mention, they are just plain fun and are a favorite of MindWare customers!
I love these books. I am 44 years young and these are amazing. Sometimes I am like 3/4 done before I can figure out what it is supposed to be.
