Toys from a Homeschooling Perspective

By Guest Blogger: Becky A., A Place To Nest

Call me a nerd but I get so excited whenever I find unique toys and games that are educational AND fun! I especially love it when my kids don’t realize they’re learning and I can sneak those games and activities into our every day lives! That’s exactly what I was looking for to use over the summer that we could also use in our homeschool and that’s exactly what I found on!

BrainBox Collection

For family game night, I picked up several of the MindWare BrainBoxes.  What a neat game that covers a variety of topics and is a fun challenge for everyone in the family! I especially like that it can be played with 1 person or 2 or more people.  It’s the perfect thing to play together or to have my kids play by themselves when they’ve got some down time during our homeschool day.  It’s games like this that really make for a well-rounded education with a lot of knowledge about a lot of topics!

Loose Change

And speaking of games and having fun while you’re learning, I also picked up the MindWare Loose Change game for my seven-year-old.  She’s learning how to count and add change and this game is perfect for that! I could have her do worksheets all day long but if I make counting change fun by playing a game, she’s going to learn a lot more and have fun while doing it!

Pattern Play: Bright Colors

Last but certainly not least, we can’t forget about logic and fine motor skills! I picked up the MindWare Pattern Play game as something that both my oldest and youngest daughters would enjoy playing with while challenging their logic and reasoning skills.  I love how it has beginner through advanced levels so both of my girls will be challenged while having fun and being creative! It doesn’t get any better than that!
